A Helpful Hand for Mama

dou·la (postpartum)

/ˈdo͞olə/, noun

a woman who loves, respects, educates, embraces,

advocates for and assists a woman after childbirth.

I'm so glad you're here! Birth and the postpartum transition are all journey's within themselves. Birth, at the hospital or at home, is beautiful and sacred, and also relatively fleeting. The act of actually becoming a parent is so awe-some. And the gravity of this time deserves support, love and compassion, without judgement or fear. As a postpartum doula, I work alongside your family to evoke your own voice as your child's caregiver.

About Me

IMG_7519.JPG

Welcome! As a postpartum doula, I offer support to women and their partners after birth. It is my honor to help create a positive and empowering postpartum experience by offering information, and emotional and physical support during this major life leap. Mama: yes, your birth journey is about your baby…and it’s also about you. I hold space for you as you become a mother.

I have given birth to two incredible humans, one in the hospital, and one at home. Both experiences were awe-inspiring, real, empowering and SUPER hard for me and my partner. We felt supported by our doulas, midwives and friends along the way. I hope every mama can feel this same presence. After the birth of my second baby, I didn't settle into the postpartum period as I did with my first. Life overall was much harder. Our village saved us, and made us feel like we could move ahead and thrive on our own. It is you who is The Mama now. You already know your baby better than anybody else, and you are going to thrive. I will help you settle into motherhood and find balance during this transformative time.

I was born with babies all around me. As the youngest of four children, I had eight nieces and nephews before I turned 18. My father practiced pediatrics into his early 70's. Growing up in this child-centric environment, there was no question that my journey would lead me back to babies. This path has brought me to you.

Postpartum Support

Welcome home! What’s next?

As your postpartum doula, I come into your space, without judgement or agenda, and provide emotional and physical support and comfort after baby's arrival. I am a nutritionist and chef, specializing in postpartum healing through nourishment (inquire within for a specialized menu, and we can cook whatever you’re craving!). I am your self-care advocate, can help support partners and siblings and can give you referrals for various birth and postpartum support practitioners. I offer breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding or finger/tube feeding support, and can assist with burping, changing and soothing. I perform light housework; dishes, laundry, overall house tidying and errands.

We will work together to help you find comfort in your own parenting style that keeps your baby safe and nurtured.
